Prayer & Adoration. Fridays in Lent. 4pm – 7pm

Prayer and AdorationIn the Season of Lent, the Church seeks, through prayer, fasting, and self denial, to recall her people to a renewal in, and deepening of, faithfulness to the Gospel – in the words of the Liturgy of Ash Wednesday “Remember, you are dust, to dust you shall return. Turn away from sin, and be faithful to Christ”. In other words, although death is our experience, and certainty, God has, through the life, death, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ, opened the way to eternal life. Lent is about realising who and what we are, and taking hold of the promise of what, through God’s gift, we can become.  We at St Olave’s have committed ourselves during Lent to pray for our parish, and for the growth of our Church, in holiness, and in number. As an aid to this, the Church will be open on Fridays during Lent between 4 pm & 7 pm; the Blessed Sacrament is exposed on the Altar, and silent Prayer will be offered by the Parish Priest, and whoever wants to join him, for these three hours. Come when you can, even for a few minutes; go when you must, but please If you are able, make use of this opportunity to “Be Still, and know that I am God” (Psalm 46.10) Evening Prayer, followed immediately by the Rite of Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament, will occur at 6.15 pm, and the silence continues until 7 pm. Please come and join us in silence and in prayer. Whoever you are, wherever you come from, you are welcome, you are loved by God in Jesus Christ our Lord
